The Privacy Act 1988 requires us to have policies and procedures in place to cover the collection, use and disclosure of personal information we may hold about you.

GWS Personnel is committed to protecting the privacy of our clients’ and candidates’ information. This Privacy Statement explains how we gather and use the information that we collect from candidates and clients and other parties. Our Privacy Statement may change from time to time. Amendments will be posted at this web site and will become effective when posted.
Type of personal information held
Personal information that we collect and hold usually falls into the following categories:
- Candidate information submitted by, and obtained from, the candidate and other sources in connection with applications for work.
- Candidate information submitted by candidate to facilitate payment of services ie. bank account details, tax file number.
- Work performance information supplied by referees and/or clients when placed on labour-hire assignment.
- Information about incidents in the workplace supplied by referees and/or clients when placed on labour-hire assignment.
- Information submitted and obtained in relation to absences from work due to leave, illness or other causes.
- Client contact information obtained to assist in managing client and business relationships.
Purposes for which we hold personal information
GWS Personnel holds information relating to its employees, temporary staff, contractors and other workplace participants. This information is primarily used for the following:
- Temporary employment services
- Recruitment
- Staff management
- Training
- Client and business relationship management
- Marketing
If you do not give us the information we seek
- We may be limited in our ability to locate suitable employment for you.
- We may be limited in our ability to employ you.
Disclosures
We may disclose your personal information for the purposes for which it is primarily held or for a related secondary purpose.
Information relating to candidates will only be disclosed to potential employers if deemed relevant. Relevant information may include, but is not limited to:
- Career summary (employment history)
- Relevant education and training
- Skills
- Test results
- References
- Salary/hourly rate expectations
- Current job options
- Availability to start
In some cases we may only disclose information with your consent. We may disclose your personal information where we are under a legal duty to do so, including circumstances where we are under a lawful duty of care to disclose information.
Compulsory release of information
There may be circumstances where GWS Personnel is contacted in relation to the compulsory release of information. For example, as a result of supplying the Australian Taxation Office with an employee’s tax declaration, a statutory body such as Centrelink or the Child Support Agency may require us to release relevant information to their authority. In such cases GWS Personnel are obliged to comply with the request, without necessarily seeking the employee’s permission.
Contractors
We contract out a number of services from time to time. Our contractors may see some of your personal information. Typically our contractors would include IT contractors and database designers; auditors and other contractors that may assist in building our business.
Storage of information
All information submitted shall be used, disclosed and stored in accordance with the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000.
Consent
By registering with GWS Personnel you expressly consent to the collection and use by GWS Personnel of personal information according to this Privacy Statement.
Access
Subject to some exceptions that are set out in the National Privacy Principles, you can gain access to the personal information that we hold about you. We may refuse access that would interfere with the privacy rights of other persons or that breaches any confidentiality attached to that information.
If you wish to obtain access to your personal information you should contact our recruitment consultants. You will be required to verify your identity.
You should also anticipate that it may take a little time to process your application for access as there may be a need to retrieve information from storage and review information in order to determine what information may be provided.
